We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Manufacturing Manager for Precision Plastics in Amherstburg ON. This position reports to the Plant Manager. The Manufacturing Manager is responsible for understanding and meeting customer requirements to include manpower, equipment, materials and scheduling. Qualified candidates will have experience in the following areas:

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensures employees are trained and in compliance to the health and safety program.
  • Actively participates in JHSC meetings and layered audit process.
  • Responsible for training, development, accountability and performance management of production supervisors and production coordinator.
  • Performance Management for all union and non-union production employees.
  • Working with human resources and production coordinator to understand labour requirements and to ensure facility has appropriate and trained manpower to meet production schedule.
  • Understanding, communicating and resolving downtime, scrap, production and labour inefficiencies.
  • Adherence to quality and process standards
  • Adherence to union CBA and participating in employee grievance process.
  • Responsible for plant forecast 2-3 months in advance
  • Plans to ensure the most efficient use of resources: material, equipment and manpower.
  • Responsible for training, development, accountability and performance management of Maintenance Manager and maintenance department.
  • Performance Management for all union and non-union maintenance employees.
  • Responsible for overseeing and directing the maintenance department in areas that include but not limited to::
  • Review daily maintenance activities.
  • Ensure maintenance department is managing critical parts inventory and procurement of manufacturing equipment/ accessories and repair components.
  • Maintain preventative and predictive maintenance procedures and reports.
  • Communication and monitor of repair of unusual or unsafe conditions
  • Review maintenance and improvement of the building and facilities with maintenance manager
  • Ensure maintenance department has a certified JHSC and actively participates in monthly meetings and conducts workplace inspections.
  • Review and monitor MTS system.
  • Review and monitor downtime and press efficiency for improvements.
  • Working with World Class Manufacturing Manager to identify and implement manufacturing best practices and principles.
  • Responsible for working with the Plant Manager to develop and prioritize plans with respect to continuous improvement within the facility.
  • Responsible for working with Plant Manager to develop measurables with respect to Continuous Improvement, including objectives, targets, tracking and the development and maintenance of visual management systems.
  • Develop programs (including training and implementation plans), and champions events which will collectively promote, educate and involve employees with the Lean foundations of Teamwork, 5S, Kaizen, Standardization, Waste Reduction, Value Stream mapping, Total Predictive Maintenance, and other Lean manufacturing tools and techniques.
  • Reviews processes throughout the facility in order to identify improvement opportunities, and then develops activities and implements actions for improvement.

  • Engineering or Business Degree required with 3-5 years of supervisory/management manufacturing experience.
  • Injection molding experience.
  • Manufacturing Maintenance Experience/Technical Experience
  • Professional Lean Manufacturing training/education
  • Proven ability to lead
