We offer a great work environment offering industry-competitive pay and benefits. We are currently seeking qualified candidates for Tooling Engineer for the Automotive Components Division. The Tooling Engineer is responsible to manage feasibility, overall injection mold tool construction and process development for a variety of automotive commodities from program award to start of OEM production.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Creates and Manages APQP document for tool construction that includes open and closed items and engineering changes.
  • Coordinates part design changes to the Program Management group and Product Engineering group to ensure the part design can be manufactured within the tool.
  • Presents feasibility documents to the Customer to ensure robust part design for Injection Molding
  • Manages overall tool build time and construction
  • Conducts meetings with Tool Vendor and Windsor Mold Automotive Components Division manufacturing facilities to ensure the tool meets our corporate and manufacturing facility standards
  • Attends pre and post tryout meetings
  • Manages and creates Tool Rework line-ups for tools within their responsibility
  • Provides hands on or supportive assistance to various plant locations including tryouts, tool improvement activities and tool failure events
  • Local travel for Tryout support
  • Travel for Molding Facility Support

Education/Qualifications
  • Certified Mold Maker
  • Engineering Degree or Diploma Plastics or Mechanical preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Mold Maker, Mold Designer or Molding Program Manager
  • Mold Leader experience considered an asset
  • Experience conducting Mold Flow Analysis an asset
  • Working knowledge of Injection Molding Machine function (starting up a machine and set up process with end of Arm), and Injection and Scientific Molding processes
  • RJG Master Molder 1 or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of General Part Design Guidelines and GD&T
  • Proficient in Basic CAD Software Function, Material Data Sheet interpretation, basic Measuring Tool Function and basic Fixture and Dimensional Interpretation
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and external stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Must have valid driver's license
  • Must be eligible to travel and work in the United States
  • Ability to travel overseas if required
